Notes on the First Iraq Franchise Exhibition from 6/6 to 6/8

  • Exhibition time

The exhibition was held for three days on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Attendance was good, but there was not enough time between Friday prayers and the end of the exhibition ceremony, especially since it was the first franchising exhibition in Iraq and the first commercial exhibition in many years.

  • JSW presented 5x5x5x5 lectures

The 5 most famous keys to a successful franchise business

The 5 most famous expectations from the franchisor

The 5 most common questions facing the franchisor

The 5 most popular franchise files that must be prepared.

  • Companies that participated in the exhibition with JSW consulting and franchising

WashyWash (Jordan)

Bousheyeh Chocolate (Jordan)

Smokey Woods (Jordan)

RHO Engineering (Jordan)

DDR Restaurant (KSA)

Seven Fries (Oman)

  • Notes about the exhibition

  1. Lack of international presence because it is the first version and most government bodies refuse to participate in the first version

  2. The difficulty in obtaining a visa for participants was a reason many did not participate, especially people from Saudi Arabia.

  3. The Iraqi market needs investment opportunities in all sectors, especially the hospitality and restaurant sectors.

  4. The Iraqi market lacks professionalism in services and quality in most products and in all sectors.

  5. The high rents in Iraq and the specificity of current locations to find sites are among the biggest challenges that an investor can face while waiting for new projects to open.

  6. The difficulty of providing raw materials and their continued availability is another challenge that must be carefully studied before entering the market.

  7. The current control and heavy presence of the Lebanese and Turkish community of companies indicates the existence of investment opportunities.

  8. The majority of participants are from the restaurants and food sector, with a slight presence from other sectors.

  9. Approximate prices for 9 square meters of exhibitors are about 4 thousand US dollars due to the high price of renting the exhibition hall from government agencies.

  10. The presence of several consulting companies specialized in franchising, with a noticeable interest in the field of franchising.

  11. A shy presence of large Iraqi companies.

  12. The lack of a cafeteria or restaurant in the exhibition hall made it difficult to get a snack during the exhibition.

  • Leading Franchise Opportunities:

  1. Sweets, donuts, and chocolate sector.

  2. The educational sector, especially education centers and institutes for children.

  3. Specialized cleaning services.

  4. Automotive services such as cleaning, protection, and car washes, the market is very interested in such opportunities.

  5. Service sectors such as sports centers, beauty centers, pet services, accounting, and tax services.

  6. Laboratories, medical, and sports clubs sectors due to the huge opportunities.

  7. Projects rely on technology.

  • The type of investment requested at the exhibition

  1. The project must be a partnership and not a franchise (I do not recommend it except in very specific circumstances)

  2. Get the secret recipe for any project and local production

  3. The project should have low establishment costs and high returns

  4. Relying on providing services that are distinct from competitors and low on labor.

  • Some notes for those who wish to participate in upcoming exhibitions

  1. Exhibitors must be well-prepared to participate, such as providing introductory brochures specialized in franchising, attractive posters according to the design of the exhibition, and it is possible to provide simple souvenirs, having people specialized in introducing the brand or having a brochure and explaining it to visitors.

  2. Representatives of the companies must be there on time according to the exhibition times.

  3. Uniforms for the work team.

  4. Distributing tasks among the team to deal with accordingly.

  5. The presence of a large display screen is important and attractive to visitors.

  6. Communicate with potential customers in the exhibition state to visit the booth.

  7. Having a brand flag or a horizontal sign to place on the booth wall to attract attention.

  8. Taking detailed notes and information about visitors, especially important ones, for communication and not just using a business card.

  9. It is important to prepare and plan to be able to provide samples of products to attendees, such as coffee prepared at the exhibition, ice cream, cake, donuts, and chocolates.
